For two decades, the human being—as an inherently social creature—has been the driving thread of my visual work. I gravitate toward a monumental scale, constantly experimenting with diverse techniques and materials to breathe texture and deep layering into the canvas. In my series Lost Spaces, I confront the eerie quiet of abandoned, human realms. I allow these desolate sites to be reclaimed by artificial flora, meticulously sculpted from the debris of our daily lives: discarded coffee cups, old COVID tests, and tangled strands of broken Christmas lights. Absent of wind, scent, or organic life, a visually stunning yet deeply uncanny paradise emerges. This is a visual autopsy of what we leave behind, exploring how transience inevitably sparks transformation. |
